Hakka Taiwan Expo-Mascot Design :

was invited to design the mascot for the 2008-2009 Hakka Expo. Drawing inspiration from Hakka deities, I chose the widely recognized figures of the Earth God and the Righteous Warriors as the main characters. In collaboration with designer Zina, we worked hand in hand to complete the task.

Character Introductions:

Earth God (Tudigong):

Portrayed with a friendly and benevolent expression, the Earth God is reminiscent of the kindly grandfather next door from our childhood, approachable and warm-hearted. Various angles and poses were designed for versatile use at the exhibition.

Righteous Warriors (Yimin Ye):

In the olden days of Taiwan, during the anti-Qing Dynasty uprising, a group of young martyrs who tragically lost their lives were mythologized by the Hakka people to honor their brave deeds and to pray for blessings and protection for their own families. Thus, the characters are designed with Chinese-style helmets and traditional Hakka attire, holding command flags to symbolize authority. Different angles and poses were also created for use at the exhibition.
